Welcome to "PKLEAKS_20.0"......
The government has finally come up with some mercy on the people of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
by providing them internet connection after a long gap of five years. While the move is being portrayed as
highly progressive and people-centric, it is part of an orchestrated plan to bluff the FATF plenary session.
The government wants to establish the opening of Internet as an outcome of its success against terrorism and
insurgency in the region.
It is worth pondering on the reasons why Internet services were shut down in the region for a prolonged period.
The austensible reasons are threat of internet misuse by terror outfits and lack of infrastructure due to the presence
of a single Telecom player in the region, which happens to be a PSU.
However, the de-facto grounds for denying internet is to establish an atmosphere of suppression and humiliation.
It is the easiest way to paralyse a society and weaken its progress. A society without Internet can never be confident
and articulative. It is the mistrust and ulterior motives of the government that result in long-term shut down of Internet
in any region. It simply says that the government is not concerned about the education, progress and well-being of
people in the region. It ensures that the problems never gets exposed in the international media, including
the excesses by the administration and army.
Take our words for granted, this episode of Internet connectivity in the region will be short-lived and cannot be
permanent. It is simply to pacify the protests and to paint an image of success on the so-called fight against terrorism.
Our government is more concerned on what FATF feels, than the feelings of its own people.
